ABOUT LISA
Before the books, pilots
and bylines, there was Michigan.
Lisa Marie Wilson has built a creative life across performance, writing, producing, motherhood and reinvention—turning what happened to her, around her and despite her into work with a life of its own.
FROM FLINT TO CALIFORNIA
Writing was there early.
Lisa’s story begins in Flint, Michigan, inside a family whose humor, contradictions and history would eventually become part of the material.
At seventeen, she attended Sacramento State University to study creative writing. Long before books, television pilots or published essays, she was already paying attention to people—how they behave, what they hide, what they survive, and what becomes funny only after enough time has passed.
LOS ANGELES
The camera came before the byline.
Acting gave Lisa an education in story that could not be learned only from a desk.
She worked in television, independent film and commercials, appearing in projects including 10 Things I Hate About You, The Young and the Restless and Port Charles. Over time, being in front of the camera expanded into writing, producing, directing and editing—experience that still shapes how she develops material today.

Lisa cared for family members through cancer, lost her mother to the disease, navigated divorce and then became the fifth generation in her family to receive a cancer diagnosis herself.
Those experiences did not become a brand strategy. They became part of the life she had to keep living. Writing came later as a way to examine what happened, tell the truth about it, find the absurdity inside it and make something useful from what remained.
Cancer, caregiving, divorce and reinvention became part of a larger body of work that refuses to separate difficult subjects from humor.
FAMILY HISTORY / ORIGINAL WORK
The stories she inherited
became stories she could tell.
Two of Lisa’s books reach directly into the family history behind her: one through her mother and cancer, the other through her father and the complicated mythology of home.
Traveling Daisy
Her mother’s illness placed Lisa inside the cancer story long before she received a diagnosis of her own.
Caring for family, losing her mother and confronting a multigenerational history of cancer eventually became part of Traveling Daisy—a memoir about family, illness, fear, humor and what it means to keep moving when life changes the itinerary.

Her father’s story is stranger, funnier and more complicated than a tidy family anecdote.
An Elvis impersonator with a mythology all his own, he became the center of Lisa’s forthcoming book—an excavation of family memory, identity and the stories children inherit before they are old enough to understand them.

MOTHERHOOD
One relationship kept growing through every chapter.
Lisa’s daughter, Amelia, has been one of the constants through career changes, caregiving, illness, reinvention and the work that followed.
Motherhood sits inside Lisa’s story the same way it does in real life: not as a separate credential, but as part of the person making every decision, taking every risk and figuring out what comes next.
CELEBRITY HATS · HOTILIDS.COM
A business that became another way to give back.
Lisa founded Celebrity Hats as an entrepreneurial venture, building a fashion business around one of the simplest things a hat can offer: confidence, identity and a little protection when someone needs it.
Over time, that business became connected to something more personal. Celebrity Hats helps provide hats to cancer patients and people experiencing homelessness, extending the company beyond retail and into the communities Lisa cares about.
Supporters may make financial contributions to help fund that effort and increase the number of hats the company can provide.
Celebrity Hats is not a nonprofit organization. Contributions support the cause but are not tax-deductible charitable donations.

The labels came later. The through-line was already there: pay attention, tell the truth, keep the humor, and keep making something from whatever life hands you.
